Growing up among the blaring horns and vibrant soundscape of New York City, Emily dowsed herself in theatre, music and film from a very young age. She was inundated with art and fascinated by it, curious about acting and itching to perform. She grew up singing with the renowned Marni Nixon ('voice behind the stars' of Audrey Hebburn, Deborah Kerr and Natalie Wood) who trained Emily in classical voice, standard musical theatre and jazz. Emily did a great deal of theatre throughout high school and continued in college, where she also expanded to film as well. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude from Middlebury College, majoring in theatre and double minoring in French and Psychology.
Since college, Emily has done a plethora of theatre and film, proudly defying any one given character "type" on her journey. She has played Mary Poppins in a critically claimed production at Northern Stage, an award winning performance as Phoebe in Shakespeare's As You Like It at the renowned Denver Center and so many rich roles in between (Audrey in Little Shop, Sally Bowles in Cabaret, Lil Red in Into the Woods and the formidable Daphna in Bad Jews, to name a few!) She has also played leading roles in comedy pilots commissioned by Comedy Central and Randomhouse, Bucksport for Life and Boss Level. She won Berkshire Theatre Award for Best Actress in her role as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd. (Peruse her acting resume for more credits!)
She is equally actor and singer, never quantifying one over the other, interested in expanding her work on stage and screen and always excited to continue defying type. Also, she loves comedy.
